Members from UNICEF/Egypt and governmental and non-governmental institutions concerned with family and child protection commended Jordan's experience in the enhancement of family and child protection systems considering it a pioneering endeavor particularly with regard to the creation of an umbrella organization such as NCFA that encompasses all governmental and nongovernmental institutions working in this area.
The visit organized in cooperation with UNICEF/Jordan aimed at familiarizing the Egyptian delegation with Jordan's experience in the field of family protection and in particular NCFA's project on the automation of procedures for handling family violence victims.
On his part, NCFA Secretary-General Fadel Al-Hmoud stressed the fact that Jordan is one of the leading countries in this area, briefing the guests on NCFA's working mechanism and goals centered on the contribution to the formulation and follow up of the implementation of family-related policies, strategies and development plans, the enhancement of the families' quality of life and role enabling them to meet their needs and guarantee their safety, the advancement of the family, its stability, cohesion and identity, and support and coordination of the efforts of governmental and civil society institutions and organizations in the public and private sectors concerned with family affairs.
Head of the Family Affairs Unit in NCFA, Hakam Matalqah gave a briefing on the project's significance and goals at the national level, emphasizing that it is one the leading projects in the area of protection against violence as it helps all institutions working in this area to institutionalize their work in providing services to family violence cases by facilitating the procedures of handling, referral and follow-up of such cases, avoiding any unnecessary delays in the comprehensive response to their needs. Matalqah also showcased the project's implementation phases in coordination with partner institutions under the supervision of the National Team for Family Protection against Violence.
On their part, the delegation commended NCFA's role as an umbrella organization for relevant governmental and non-governmental institutions and Jordan's progress in the enhancement of the system of family protection against violence.
