NCFA and Jordan Society for Protecting Family Violence Victims hold a family counseling awareness workshop in Ma’an

In cooperation with Al-Anwar Charitable Society, NCFA and the Jordan Society for Protecting Family Violence Victims organized a specialized awareness lecture on family counseling attended by the former Minster of Social Development Reem Hassan and President of the Ma’an Municipality Akram Kreishan.
During the lecture, Kreishan stressed the role of the family in building a healthy society and the importance of family counseling in light of the changes around us including the prevalence of social media usage among people which has taken a toll on families’ lives.
Along the same lines, Abu Hassan emphasized the importance of the family and the role of parents within that family, noting that in recognition of that role NCFA and the Society bore the responsibility of conducting such awareness lectures on this issue as part of a memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties to hold a series of awareness-raising lectures across the Kingdom.
During the lecture, head of the Communication and Monitoring Unit at NCFA Khadijah Al-Alaween highlighted the importance of family counseling which has been at the center of NCFA’s attention since its establishment, as it plays an important preventive and remedial role in family protection.
Alaween pointed out that NCFA in cooperation with Al-Anwar Society opened a family center in 2013 to provide counselling services, noting that the number of the overall family counselling centers opened in 2017 reached (11) centers in several Jordanian governorates.
On her part, Lana Kreishan, head of the Society also emphasized the importance of the family counseling centers established by NCFA indicating that the number of cases received by the center since its establishment reached 7500 cases.
In his paper, Dr. Ahmad Abu Rumman, member of the Society’s administrative committee, focused on family counseling, family relations and how to deal with each other within the family so as to protect the family and its members.
Attending the lecture were women from the local community in Ma’an and beneficiaries from the Tkiyet Um Ali foundation.
