Conclusion of the Activities of the Third Phase of the Training Program on Family Protection Procedures.

10-07-2023

The activities of the third phase of the training program on the Family Protection and Juvenile Department procedures guide on responding to domestic violence were concluded on Saturday. The program was conducted by the National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA) in collaboration with UNICEF/Jordan Office.

The program, held in Aqaba, targeted representatives from the Family Protection and Juvenile Department, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Health (Forensic and Psychological Medicine), and SOS Children's Villages in the Southern Region.

The training program encompassed delivering training sessions by the participants on the guide's topics, employing various training tools such as presentations, group work, role-playing, and question-and-answer.

Dr. Mohammed Miqdadi, the Secretary-General of the National Council for Family Affairs, emphasized during the closing ceremony that the council, in continuous collaboration with its partners and UNICEF, strives to enhance and update the violence protection system. These enhancements involve the formulation of unified national procedures for the prevention and response to violence, solidifying a case management approach, which delineates mechanisms, tools, procedures, and responsibilities for all service providers dealing with cases of violence.

He mentioned that the importance of this program lies in enhancing the capabilities of professionals in this field with regard to the procedures outlined in the guide. At the conclusion of the program, participants will undergo an assessment based on established criteria for accreditation by their respective institutions as trainers. This accreditation will enable them to train their colleagues dealing with violence cases on the guide's topics.

The first phase of the training covered topics captured from the guide, including policies, legislation, regulatory frameworks, definitions, and humanitarian principles. It also encompassed procedures by the Family Protection and Juvenile Department in dealing with domestic violence cases. The training addressed the tasks and responsibilities assigned to those working with cases, as well as pathways for handling cases based on their classifications, such as sexual assaults, online sexual exploitation of children, and alienation of affections.

The first phase also included forensic procedures and the conditions of women at risk, as well as case management for civil society organizations.

The second phase included training skills and methods, effective training skills and policies, as well as techniques for designing training sessions, task distribution, and pre- and post-assessment mechanisms.

The NCFA and UNICEF prepared a Family Protection and Juvenile Department Procedures Guide in 2021. The training program implementation commenced earlier this year, initially targeting the central region and extending to the southern region. The program will be executed in the northern region during the last quarter of this year.
