Imam of the Hashemite Court meets with NCFA Secretary-General

His Eminence Chief Justice and Imam of the Hashemite Court Dr Ahmed Helayel met in his office the Secretary-General of the National Council of Family Affairs (NCFA) Fadhel Al-Hmoud. The meeting was also attended by Chairman of the Judicial Council and Chief of Shari'ah Courts Judge Issam Arabyat, Judge Mansour Al-Tawalbeh from the Supreme Judge Department and the NCFA Deputy Secretary-General, Mohammad Miqdady.
The meeting discussed issues and problems facing the Jordanian family and the importance of working with it to help maintain its solidarity and fulfill its roles. The meeting also stressed the role of communication between relevant institutions to reinforce the educational role of the family in instilling positive concepts in conformity with the constitution and Islamic Shari'ah . Discussions also alluded to the Jordanian Personal Status Law with regard to the protection criteria contained in the law which guarantee optimal safety for woman and child in particular and the family in general.
Dr Helayel emphasized the role of Shari'ah courts in not only resolving family disputes but offering them guidance and strengthening their ties. Hence came the idea behind Family Conciliation and Mediation offices which offer prevention-oriented services through family and premarital counseling courses as well as therapy services based on alternative dispute resolution methods. According to his eminence, the Family Conciliation and Mediation Bylaw No. 17 of the year 2013 was established in a bid to settle family disputes as cordially as possible through promoting awareness, education and family counseling. The council is working on this issue through focusing on family counseling and paying extra attention to their best interests to resolve their problems and prevent them from exacerbating.
On his part, NCFA Secretary-General stressed the need for safeguarding the stability and entity of the family against emerging social, economic and cultural phenomena. Al-hmoud also underlined the impact of the religious discourse on society as a whole and the family in particular and its role in strengthening and furthering ties between members of the family.
