Lattouf attends “Looney Baloony” festival to combat violence against children

Deputized by the Prime Minster, Minster of Social Development Hala Lattouf inaugurated the interactive festival “Adventures of Looney Balloony” which is one of the activities of the National Multi-Sector Plan of Action to End Violence against Children.
The festival organized by NCFA and UNICEF included several interactive theatre shows presented by the National Interactive Theatre Group under the title “Full stop… Begin a new line” which talks about positive parenting. Children also enjoyed storytelling shows by Yazan Massarweh, took pictures with famous Looney Balloony characters and played with balloons and handprint games.
The festival also included a photo exhibition presenting 30 stories and pictures inspired by true stories of physical, verbal and sexual violence and their effects on survivors using a new technique called lenticular printing which was used for the first time in Jordan. Moreover, several training sessions on counseling were organized in addition to providing social counseling services for participating families.
The audience stressed the importance of organizing similar family awareness events that can promote the values of dialogue and positive parenting within families through a wide range of exciting events as presented in this festival.
It is to be noted that the festival offers a platform created by NCFA and UNICEF to raise the awareness of families on the dangers of violence against children engaging the entire family through diversified events.
The conference was held in Amman on 21st-22nd September free of charge for the entire family and was rolled out to other governorates including Irbid on 28th -29th , Zarqa on October 5th -6th , and Aqaba on October 12th -13.
