MoU between NCFA and (GIZ)

10-21-2018

On the sidelines of a workshop titled "Launching of a study on the concept of home-based crèches in Jordan", NCFA and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ)/ Employment Promotion Program (EPP) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a view to increase women employment opportunities in Jordan. The MoU was signed by Director of the (EPP)Thorsten Mitz and NCFA Secretary-General Fadel AL-Hmoud.
During the workshop attended by the Minster of Labor Ali Thaher Al-Ghazawi, Al-Hmoud explained that this MoU complements a previous MoU signed between GIZ and the Ministry of Labor on 13 December 2016 which defined the general framework in terms of goals and methodology.
According to Al-Hmoud, women workers are still concentrating on "invisible" and informal employment areas; therefore, the MoU seeks to "formalize" home-based crèches (nurseries), develop a set of instructions and standards for licensing their work, build the capacities of women job seekers to work as qualified care-providers for children and raise awareness on Article (72) of the Jordanian Labor Law. Based on this MoU, draft instructions and home-based nursery standards will be developed in cooperation with the relevant stakeholders, added Al-Hmoud.
