NCFA launches the Internet World Package

Coinciding with the World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse, the National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA) launched on Monday its Internet World Package aimed at promoting safe Internet use particularly by children.
According to the Acting Secretary-General of the (NCFA), Mohammad Miqdady, the package aims at raising awareness of children and their families on the advantages of the Internet, the potential dangers that might accompany its use and possible preventive measures through providing a set of interactive tools that furthers mutual trust between both sides.
The preparation of the package, added al-Miqdady, underwent a number of steps starting with the development of the scientific material on the safe use of the Internet, later on refereed by a group of educational technology experts up to the final execution of the package which includes: a short story, a short awareness video, a family guide, a coloring paper, and an activities book.
Dr Suha Tabbal, Director of Childhood Development at the NCFA, noted that the package covers a range of topics most importantly: the uses of the Internet, Internet safety and privacy issues, raising awareness on the risks and things that should be avoided on the Internet as well as regulating the online time.
The package funded by the Arab Gulf Fund for United Nations Development Programs (AGFUND) was developed electronically and is available on the NCFA website , Tabbal added, noting that it targets children at the early childhood stage, their families and those who work with them.
