In a bid to encourage and help working women engage in the labor market, Minister of Labor Ali Thaher Al-Ghazawi inaugutrated the "Jerarsh and Aseel Nursery" located in the Sahab Industrial Complex which is expected to benefit the children of a thousand women working in two factories within the complex. The opening, attended by NCFA Secretary General Fadel Al-Hmoud, Acting Director General of the Employment, Technical and Vocational Education Training Fund (E-TVET) Eng. Hani Al-Khleifat and representatives from the public and private sector, is part of the "Support and Activation of the Establishment of Nurseries in the Private Sector" Project implemented by NCFA and funded by the (E-TVET) Fund in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor. The Project has so far helped establish 11 institutional nurseries in a number of factories in accordance with international standards that guarantee the safety and health of the children.
Oriana AL-Awaysheh, an executive manager of a clothes factory indicated that the nursery aims to provide a safe, clean and encouraging environment through playing and directed-learning in a positive manner that supports social, mental and emotional growth.
"The nursery has a unique program for care and learning that depends on up-to-date educational studies and programs," said Khaldoun Heikal, another factory manager.
Guests toured the nursery's facilities which include several rooms divided according to age groups and a designated play area where the children could have fun and learn at the same time. Women workers specialized in child care will supervise the nursery and will take care of the children, teaching them in a manner that is suitable to their age group. Guests later on watched a documentary about the stages of establishing a nursery.
At the end of the ceremony, Al-Ghazawi honored some workers with disabilities from the two companies for their hard work, discipline and devotion.
