Training workshop on women employment for workers in family counseling centers

05-23-2016

In cooperation with the regional program for economic empowerment of women in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) funded by the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), the National Council for Family Affairs held a specialized training workshop on the use of the awareness campaign manual based on the "Here I am" campaign which seeks to raise awareness on women's contribution to economy and change concepts towards the working woman and her roles to be more positive. The workshop was attended by 20 workers working in 10 family counseling centers run by NCFA.
The training complements the activities of the "We are here" initiative implemented by the regional program for the economic empowerment of women in the MENA region which was launched in 2013 with a view to raise awareness on the work of women in four countries: Jordan, Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia. The major campaign was implemented by using 8 short films produced under the "We are here" initiative to simulate the actual life of the working woman to actively shed light on the fact that she is actually "here" and that she exists and contributes to her country's economy.
It is to be noted that NCFA has begun establishing family counseling centers since 2010 in several Jordanian governorates in cooperation with non-governmental institutions to provide comprehensive counseling services which have now reached 10 centers located in the governorates of Amman, Balqa, Irbid, Karak, Aqaba, Maan and Mafraq
