Bani Mustafa inaugurates a home-based nursery in Tabarbour

Today, Tuesday, Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa inaugurated a home-based nursery in Tabarbour. The event was attended by the Secretary-General of the National Council for Family Affairs, the Regional Director of World University Service of Canada (WUSC), and representatives from the Canadian Embassy in Jordan. This is part of the cooperation agreement between the National Council for Family Affairs and the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) for institutionalizing the nursery sector in Jordan.

 According to Bani Mustafa, the project to license home-based nurseries reflects the recent government ambitions wihin the economic development vision to empower women, within the government's intentions to expand the establishment of nurseries across the kingdom, including institutional, home-based, and private nurseries. The idea of establishing home-based nurseries came to support girls who want to work from home to create safe nurseries within high general safety standards in accordance with the regulations issued by the Ministry of Social Development, she added.

Furthermore, she emphasized that the social work sector generates many job opportunities as an employing sector and provides a suitable work environment, including working in home-based nurseries, which positively influences the approach to economic empowerment for women.

The Secretary-General of the National Council for Family Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Miqdadi, stressed that the early years of a child's life are the most important, as this is where personality is shaped, and brain development begins, along with development in all physical, cognitive, and behavioral aspects. Involving the child in a nursery environment plays a vital role in shaping his personality and developing and enhancing his developmental skills, he added.

Miqdadi also highlighted the role of nursery workers, stating that the National Council for Family Affairs, believing in this role and the importance of economically empowering women, has prepared training materials to train nursery workers build their capacities. This aims to provide trained and qualified manpower to provide quality services to children and encourage girls interested in working from home to establish home-based nurseries within specific conditions and standards related to home-based nurseries.

Nancy Al-Momani, the Regional Director of the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) in Jordan, said that these efforts complement the activities of the Economic Empowerment and Job Development for Women in Jordan project (WE LEAD), funded by the Canadian government and implemented by WUSC in partnership with the Canadian Leaders in International Consulting coy (CLIC). The focus is on graduates of the Vocational Training Corporation. This initiative contributes to increasing women's economic participation in the labor market, reducing barriers hindering women's entry and retention in the workforce, and improving the quality of services provided to children by home-based nurseries in Jordan. She noted that the opening of this nursery will serve as a model that the Jordanian government seeks to adopt in the future.
