German Jordanian University signs MoU with local institutions

The German Jordanian University (GJU) signed several memoranda of understanding (MoU) with national institutions to enhance means of coordination and cooperation in the areas of social and humanitarian work and implement programs and projects of mutual interest.
The MoUs were signed with NCFA, Caritas Jordan and the Institute of Family Health/Noor Al-Hussein Foundation to achieve substantive and technical cooperation among them through the implementation of the Professional Diploma Program "Migration and Refugees" concentrating on both aspects, the theoretical and the applied. The program is a new addition to the School of Applied Humanities and Languages at GJU.
According to a GJU press release, the MoUs signed by the President of the University, Professor Natheer Abu Obeid on behalf of GJU will entail cooperation between signatories in the preparation of research and studies and the development of curriculum for the new professional diploma program which was established in implementation of cooperation agreements between German and European Universities and national institutions.
The MoU also included exchanging expertise and studies, disseminating knowledge related to matters of mutual interest, enhancing the efficiency of personnel working in relevant entities and collaborating in the organization of training programs, seminars and research.
Abu Obeid stressed the importance of the cooperation in providing training opportunities for young people enrolled in the program which includes Jordanian students and students from Germany who study Social Work in German Universities in addition to providing work opportunities in different global, Arab and Jordanian institutions.
On his part, NCFA Secretary-General Fadel Al-Hmoud commended the GJU's initiative in signing the MoU, noting that NCFA seeks to achieve a better quality of life for the Jordanian family through a national vision that feeds into development policies and enables the family to achieve its aspirations and at the same time maintain its stability and safety.
The General Director of Caritas/Jordan Wael Sulaiman highlighted the association's concern with providing assistance to those in need both nationals and refugees, noting the importance of the cooperation among universities and professional institutions in the implementation of social programs.
The Director of the Institute of Family Health, who signed the MoU on behalf of Ms. Hana Shahin the Executive Director of the King Hussein Foundation, emphasized the institute's keenness to open new venues for cooperation with academic institutions in and outside Jordan and to attain academic accreditation with which they can disseminate specialized knowledge on family issues and be able to provide professional and academic training and education in the area of humanitarian issues.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Vice President of GJU for International Affairs Prof. Dorit Schumann, Dean of the School of Applied Humanities and Languages Dr. Jochen Pleines, Dr. Sahar Makhamreh Professor of Social Work, Public Relations Director Munir Bani Yunus and representatives from NCFA, IFH and Caritas.
It is to be noted that the cooperation which is the first of its kind on the national level was by the initiative of GJU as part of its belief in the importance of strengthening cooperation with academic institutions including universities and social institutions.
